My Top Amazon Fitness Finds
Honestly, what would we do without the convenience of Amazon? Last spring, like many of you I’m sure, I wanted to stock up my home gym in light of the pandemic and the lack of access to my normal gym. While I was reading the reviews of various brands of resistance bands (who knew there were so many?), I discovered that AmazonBasics carries affordable and highly rated fitness gear. If you don't know, AmazonBasics is the retailer's house brand that carries everything from tech accessories to office supplies to even mattresses. If you felt so inclined, you could create your own home gym with dumbbells, medicine balls, foam rollers, and yoga mats with just a few clicks. So to make it easier for you, I've rounded up some of the best-reviewed gear. Take a look at the list below.
AmazonBasics Neoprene Dumbbell Pairs and Sets With Stand ($29)
A set of dumbbells will come in handy if you can't make it to the gym. This set of two-, three-, and five-pound dumbbells comes with a stand so you can keep them tucked away in a corner or closet. One reviewer says the best thing about this buy is it's "a lot cheaper than any local sports or supermarket store," and warns that the stand is a bit flimsy but gets the job done.
AmazonBasics High-Density Round Foam Roller ($23)
Just thinking about my foam roller makes me feel so much more relaxed. I love using mine to massage my back when it feels tight or sore, but you can also use it for stretches and as part of your workout routine. (This trainer highly suggests using it after your exercise.) This one comes in seven different colors.
AmazonBasics Resistance and Pull Up Band ($10)
These colorful bands are versatile and can be used for chin-ups, pull-ups, biceps curls, stretching, and more. The bands run the gamut in weight resistance and width—starting with a $10 buy that has a resistance of 10 to 35 pounds and is a half-inch wide.
AmazonBasics Medicine Ball ($22)
I have a love-hate relationship with medicine balls because A) I associate them with hard-as-hell core workouts, but B) I feel so accomplished after I use them. You can work out your entire body with one, so it's good to keep for at-home exercises. One reviewer says, "It is the EXACT quality of medicine balls you'll find in commercial gyms."
AmazonBasics Yoga Blocks ($11)
These are a must for your at-home practice since they provide stability and help you deepen your poses. Choose from a black or purple version.
AmazonBasics Pilates Ring ($19)
Add some resistance to your workout and tone muscles with a Pilates ring. One reviewer keeps it at their desk for leg and arm exercises, while other reviewers say the handles make it easy and comfortable to use.
AmazonBasics Yoga & Exercise Mat With Carrying Strap ($13)
Even if you're not much of a yogi, a mat makes floor exercises and stretching so much more comfortable. This one comes with a strap so it's easy to bring to class or the gym and is available in six different colors.
AmazonBasics Air Stability Cushion ($15)
Sit or stand on the cushion for core- or muscle-strengthening exercises. You can even keep this one on your office chair to help posture and give your abs a workout while you're at your 9-to-5. It comes with a hand pump so you can easily inflate it.
AmazonBasics Yoga Towel ($18)
Use this yoga towel to cover your mat so you don't have to worry about slipping during poses or to dry off after an intense workout. It's lightweight, so it won't take up too much room in your gym bag.
AmazonBasics Vinyl Coated Cast Iron Kettlebell Weight ($15)
This beginner kettlebell is small enough for a home gym and sturdy enough to use for weight training. Plus, the bright vinyl coating helps to protect floors, reduce noise, and prevent corrosion.
AmazonBasics Double Sided Core Exercise Gliding Sliders ($11)
These lightweight, durable gliders are essential for anyone who wants to work on core-strengthening exercises.
AmazonBasics Wood Wobble Exercise Balance Board ($21)
This board can help improve core strength, coordination, posture, and balance. It is suitable for a wide range of exercises including push-ups, plank, standing balance poses, and targeted workouts for strengthening specific muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints.
AmazonBasics Aluminum Handle Speed Jump Rope ($7)
Jump ropes aren't just for gym class. Keeping one of these handy can help you quickly integrate high-intensity cardio training into any workout.
AmazonBasics Abdominal and Core Exercise Workout Roller Wheel ($21)
When used properly, this lightweight and portable exercise roller wheel can help strengthen and tighten the entire core.
AmazonBasics Speed Bag ($15)
Need to punch it out after a long day? This speed bag is great for getting an intense upper-body workout and is easy to add to your home gym.
AmazonBasics Boxing Gloves ($18)
You'll probably also want a pair of these durable boxing gloves to practice that one-two punch.
AmazonBasics Sports Massage Muscle Roller ($20)
Finished your workout? Not yet. This handy muscle roller helps relax sore, stiff muscles and can help increase blood flow and promote faster recovery.
